We are looking for an experienced web developer to join the backend team developing our telephony platform VoIPGRID. You will be involved in projects that span from maintenance and security updates to new features for the platform. Because of this, we are looking for someone who has strong technical skills but also gets energy out of discussing and brainstorming possibilities with us. If you haven't worked in Python yet, you do have enough knowledge about other programming languages which makes the transition to Python quick and easy. Next to programming, you also are used to working with an ecosystem of tools and workflows.
You are someone that values working in a collaborative environment. We work in project based teams closely with our infrastructure, design, frontend, and quality assurance colleagues. This ensures that everyone is involved in a project so that it can move quickly. We value quality over quantity when it comes to code, and often spar with each other about how to tackle the challenges we come across. We also believe in mentoring, both in terms of having senior colleagues around you to ask questions, as well as mentoring younger students through different school programs.

Alongside our VoIP platform we develop an app (both Android and iOS versions), a webphone, and a browser plugin which allow you to use the platform wherever you are.
Besides developing products, we also connect people through our foundation, 48percent.org, and the open source community, the Open VoIP Alliance. Spindle is located in Groningen, a beautiful city known for its innovation and the second fastest growing tech city in the Netherlands.
If you look around the office, you’ll notice we do things a bit different around here:
We organize ourselves using a system called Holacracy. We believe every colleague is able to contribute to the organization rather than relying on a traditional hierarchy. Having no managers comes with extra responsibility to take ownership of your work and set priorities that help to further the organization.
